The Nature of Brain Plasticity
نویسندگان
چکیده
Although the brain was once seen as a rather static organ, it is now clear that the organization of brain circuitry is constantly changing as a function of experience. These changes are referred to as brain plasticity, and they are associated with functional changes that include phenomena such as memory, addiction, and recovery of function. Recent research has shown that brain plasticity and behavior can be influenced by a myriad of factors, including both preand postnatal experience, drugs, hormones, maturation, aging, diet, disease, and stress. Understanding how these factors influence brain organization and function is important not only for understanding both normal and abnormal behavior, but also for designing treatments for behavioral and psychological disorders ranging from addiction

O7: Research on the Brain and Learning: Plasticity and Variability and Their Impact on Talent Identification
This talk will introduce the idea that talent development is related to learning where learning is the physiological process of neuro-plastic changes in the brain. To develop talents, individuals must move from novice or beginner’s status to expertise levels of knowledge or skills in a particular domain. Learning depends on maximizing an individual’s potential through the experience...
متن کاملP 54: Migraine: a Brain Plasticity Response to Repetitive Stressful Occurrences
Migraine is a primary headache which is very common in the society. Although it is usually starts in a salient point in life span of an individual diagnostically, the repetition of acute stress response such as sleep abnormalities, anxiety, and depression are not new in this population. Therefore, they have had almost a long diary of these abnormalities. In order to understand the role/s of str...

purpose: Recent research indicated that the brain can change or reorganize itself after stroke and Stroke rehabilitation based on the evidence of neuroplasticity, which is responsible for recovery following stroke. The purpose of the present study was to review the previously published studies concerning effective of rehabilitation techniques in brain plasticity after stroke. methods: A lite...
متن کاملEffect of Norepinephrine depletion on induction of experience dependent plasticity in male rat barrel cortex
Introduction: Barrel cortex of rats is a part of somatosensory cortex, which receives information from facial whiskers. Vibrisectomy by sensory deprivation leads to some changes in the barrel cortex, which have been known as experience dependent plasticity. On the other hand, Norepinephrine (NE) and locus coeruleus, which is the main source of NE, influenced response properties of cortical bar...
متن کاملDevelopmental effect of light deprivation on synaptic plasticity of rats' hippocampus: implications for melatonin
Objective(s): There are few reports have demonstrated the effect of a change-in-light experience on the structure and function of hippocampus. A change-in-light experience also affects the circadian pattern of melatonin secretion. This study aimed to investigate developmental effect of exogenous melatonin on synaptic plasticity of hippocampus of light deprived rats. Materials and Methods: The ...
متن کاملDevelopmental Effects of Melatonin on Synaptic Plasticity of Hippocampal CA1 Neurons in Visual Deprived Rats
Background & Aims: Change in visual experience impairs circadian rhythms. In this study, The effects of visual deprivation during critical period of brain development and melatonin intake on synaptic plasticity of hippocampal CA1 neurons were evaluated. Methods: This experimental study was done on male rats kept in standard 12 hour light/dark condition (L...
